When: Saturday, September 7, 2019
Where: Jean Klock Beach, Benton Harbor

Now in its 15th year, the Luau continues with a simple goal: to bring the freshwater surfing community together for a fun day at the beach! What first started as a beach party in New Buffalo, Michigan in 2004 has evolved very little; it’s still about getting local surfers, friends, and families together to hang out.

Enjoy great live music by Grand Rapids-based surf band The Concussions (now playing at their third Luau), look for your next board (or unload gear you no longer need) at the surf swap meet, and paddle out at one of our favorite local beaches. Also, bring a dish to pass for the potluck dinner -- we'll provide a main course, water, lemonade, and all plate ware/silver ware.

Don’t forget the raffle, yeeewww! Win a new 3rd Coast surfboard, wetsuit, and so much more from all of the rad companies we work with. Please note, due to legal considerations, we won’t be selling raffle tickets this year, but you can enter the raffle through the following:

  • Purchase a dinner ticket. We’re stepping up the main course (details to come), and each $5 ticket for dinner that you buy gets you 1 raffle entry! (Want more chances to win? Buy more dinner tickets!)
  • Purchase a new limited-edition t-shirt with this year’s Luau art (by longtime TCSS co-conspirator Captain Jack Flynn). For each $20 shirt you buy, you get 2 raffle entries!

Note: this is an admission-free, family-friendly event. You may have to pay an entry fee to get into Jean Klock Beach.

Here’s the breakdown (all times are EST):

3:00: Event start time (surf swap meet, TCSS sales tent)
3:30 - 4:00: Opening music sets, potluck dinner (bring a dish to share: we'll provide a main course)
4:15 – 5:00: The Concussions first set
5:15 – 5:45: Raffle (surfboard, etc.)
6:00 – 6:45: The Concussions second set

We’re stoked to see you there!
