Late Summer Swell

It's been a fun few weeks for surfers in our corner of the Great Lakes. Check out some shots from our local breaks below...

Welcome to the team, @greatlakessurfgrom! Jameson is an eight-year-old shredder from the surf-soaked town of Grand Haven, Michigan. His infectious stoke and good vibes are what we are all about at TCSS! It’s so rad to see the young groms ripping, and Jameson is helping lead the charge. Stay stoked, amigo.

I am so grateful for these beautiful photos! My favorite is of little Jameson! What a stunning shot! I just want you to know that you are on my wishlist. I am in my early 50s and a very recent widow. Climbing out of grief and still holding onto the little dreams you have is a daily challenge. I have had dreams of surfing for years, longer than I can remember. I don't know where they came from, probably my love of the Beach Boys for many years? :-D. But I never understood this since I was born and raised in Cook County, Chicagoland and very recently I had to move to Central Indiana which makes me even further away from the water! Ugh! Still, I signed up to get your emails to make sure that I keep this dream alive in the back of my mind. I have never surfed in my life! Yet I still have this crazy dream of getting on a surfboard and surfing in beautiful water. Freedom and beauty! I have rented a few documentaries on surfing, and that is how I learned that there was such a thing called Great Lakes surfing! Who knew?! How wonderful that Surfers can surf the Great Lakes! I couldn't believe it when I saw this documentary and then somehow I found you. And of course, that famous movie, Endless Summer. Beautiful and classic. I love the spirit of a surfer. I have seen some wonderful Surfers getting out in horrible weather just getting out on the waves and enjoying their sport. I love their spirit and wish I had the same chutzpah! Maybe I do, I don't know as I have not learned to Surf yet but so desire too. Thank you for these beautiful pictures, like I said. I saved a few to my phone which will bless me especially as the season turns colder. One day, one day, God willing, I will make the long drive to St Joseph to visit you and get my first surfing lesson. I'm a devout Catholic and I really think it's wonderful that you are in the town of Saint Joseph who I recently started a Devotion to. Not sure if you've ever heard of a champion surfer named Bear Woznik but he is easily found online and on YouTube. Look him up when you can. He us a great man. Of course, I don't know him personally but I have listened to his show many times. He even has some videos of him surfing with his wife online. I hope you can look him up sometime. You won't be disappointed. Anyway, thank you very much for the beautiful pictures and what you do. God bless you and may you realize how much He loves you. Kristina Lynn
