  NEWS Free SUP Demo in New Buffalo : July 24 What: Free stand up paddling demo When: 12:00 EST Where: New Buffalo City Beach Come out and try stand up paddling for free! This demo will feature reps from Surftech, Naish, and C4 on hand with a wide variety of boards for folks to try. This is an awesome oppurtunity to learn the basics of paddling, experience different types of boards, and enjoy a couple enjoyable hours in our beautiful harbor! No need to register...simply show up around noon EST at the beach and we'll get you on the water! Third Coast Classic : August 7 What: A skimboarding contest! When: 9:00 - 10:30 EST Registration, 11:00 Start Where: New Buffalo City Beach Our second skim contest of the summer because we can't get enough! This is the Third Coast Classic, held on Saturday, August 7th at New Buffalo City Beach. The all age’s skimboard contest draws participants from across the region to enjoy a day of fun in the sun with fellow beach enthusiasts. Skimboarders of any ability are invited to compete and cheer on their counterparts. Divisions include Menehune’s (11 and under), Boy’s (12-14), Junior Men’s (15-17), Men’s (18+), and Open Girls. Prizes awarded for division winners. A $25 entry fee includes a Third Coast Classic t-shirt and lunch (hot dog, chips, and a drink) from Jake’s at the Beach concession stand. We'll also be raffling off some prizes! Registration is from 9:00 am – 10:30 am, and the contest starts at 11:00 am. All times are Eastern Standard. Inland skimboarders from throughout the Third Coast Surf Shop on NBC's Today Show Mike Leonard, a Today Show correspondent and fellow Midwesterner, came to the Shop in March to get some footage of us in the soup and do a few interviews at the Shop. Though the surf was horrible (even by our standards) we had a great time hanging out for the day before he headed home. Thanks, Mike! |
