Since 2005, our mission at Third Coast Surf Shop has been to spread the joy of the surfing lifestyle throughout the Great Lakes and beyond. We offer a full line of surf, skate, and stand-up paddling gear, apparel, and accessories at two surf shop locations, and also operate Third Coast Paddling, a retail destination for kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and related items. Our services include kayak and paddleboard rentals at multiple rental sites throughout southwest Michigan, plus surfing, paddling, and sandboarding rentals and lessons, and kids' beach day camps.
We currently have openings in the following positions:
RENTAL SITES MANAGER, THIRD COAST PADDLING
Passionate about paddling? Join our crew as manager for Third Coast Paddling's kayak and paddleboard rental operations in southwest Michigan. This position is full-time during the summer and part-time in the spring and fall. Great potential for growth!
Executing and overseeing daily operations at up to four rental sites: at the Galien River and New Buffalo Beach in New Buffalo, and at the Paw Paw River and Jean Klock Beach in Benton Harbor.
Managing rental sites staff, including recruiting, hiring, and training new employees; setting work schedules and maintaining payroll targets; and setting an excellent example for staff through strong leadership, a positive attitude, and great customer service.
Tracking sales and identifying growth opportunities.
Managing rental inventory and maintaining equipment and site appearance.
Assisting customers, including ringing up sales, providing instruction, and answering calls and emails.
Planning and executing group outings and special events.
Tracking weather forecasts and communicating any necessary changes in hours of operation.
Assisting in social media and marketing as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
3+ years of proven customer service experience.
Passion for kayaking and/or stand-up paddleboarding is a must.
Must enjoy working outdoors and have reliable transportation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communication through phone, text messaging, email, and social media.
Good multitasking and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic computer skills.
Full commitment to working the entire season.
